Close to 80 Muslims at a refugee camp in Hamburg, Germany, have been baptized into Christianity despite the ongoing physical and sexual abuse that Christian converts face at such camps in the Western country.
"While Christian converts suffer in great measures at the hands of their Muslim neighbors in Germany, around 80 refugees were recently baptized into Christianity," International Christian Concern, a persecution watchdog group, noted on Tuesday.
Mohabat News reported that Pastor Albert Babajan conducted the mass baptism of refugees at the camp in Hamburg, revealing that one of the main motives for their conversion is disappointment with Islam.

Thousands Upon Thousands of Christians Flood the Nation’s Capital to Pray for Our Nation
In the sweltering summer heat, thousands of Christians gathered near the Washington Monument on Saturday to pray for a “broken” America.
Nick Hall, a young evangelical Christian and leader of the Pulse ministry, organized the event to encourage young Christians to unite in prayer for the problems in the world and then take action, the Religion News Service reports.
“We believe #JesusChangesEverything,” the organizers said. The hashtag became a trending topic on Twitter during the event. “We believe there’s power in coming together. Jesus promised whenever two or more come together in His name, He is present. It’s emboldening to join with others, to know we’re not alone, to realize we can do more together than apart.”
“God, we don’t need to hear from some man or some woman,” Hall said in an opening prayer on Saturday morning. “God we don’t need to hear from some band. We need to hear from heaven today. That’s why we’ve come.”
Speakers at the event avoided talking too much about politics. Instead, they focused on praying for an end to violence and suffering, and restored protections for the vulnerable all across the world.

Iowa Bureaucrats Force Trans Bathrooms On Churches, Forbid Non-PC Preaching
Iowa churches and church-run daycares must let males and females pee, dress, and shower next to each other, and pastors and Christians could be brought before extrajudicial tribunals if they “directly or indirectly” make “persons of any particular…gender identity” feel “unwelcome,” according to new regulations from Iowa’s Orwellian-named “Civil Rights Commission.”
The commission’s new regulatory guidelines pertaining to a 2007 state “sexual orientation and gender identity,” or SOGI, law also require private businesses, schools, libraries, police departments, and any private organizations that receive government funds to let men and women shower, change clothes, urinate, and defecate inside whichever formerly sex-protected facilities they choose. No sex-change or birth-certificate is necessary for biological males, for example, to gain access to formerly women-only private facilities, the commission says. Declaring oneself a certain sex is all that’s needed.

Why don't more Americans ask faith leaders for advice?
Only 15 percent of U.S. adults said they rely a lot on advice from religious leaders, compared to 82 percent who do their own research, 45 percent who pray, 43 percent who ask family members for help and 25 percent who ask experts for their insights.
One in three highly religious Americans (33 percent), or people who pray daily and attend worship services at least once a week, rely a lot on advice from religious leaders when making major life decisions, compared to 80 percent who trust their own research, 86 percent who pray and 49 percent who ask family members for input, the study reported.

What's lost when people stop talking about faith in public?
When people stop talking about their faith in public, they miss out on helping people in need and correcting unfair stereotypes, faith leaders said.
...Fear of how other people will respond to religious discussion guides — or, rather, halts — many believers' attempts to bring up their faith with family, friends or strangers. When they sense someone disagrees with them about religion, nearly 1 in 4 U.S. Christians (24 percent) avoid the subject altogether, according to a new survey from Pew Research Center.
These findings likely satisfy those who think faith has no place in polite conversation, but religious leaders and scholars say we shouldn't celebrate when a first date, holiday dinner or phone call passes with no mention of religion. Discussions about belief in God, prayer and theology play an important role in society, helping people venture beyond their comfort zones and gain new understanding, they said.
"It's part of faith itself to be able to articulate our beliefs in an atmosphere where we can be heard," said Diane Moore, director of Harvard Divinity School's Religious Literacy Project.

Going to church could help people live longer
Fitting a worship service into your weekly schedule could extend your life, according to a new study on church attendance and mortality published this week in JAMA Internal Medicine.
"Over a 20-year span, the study surveyed a group of more than 76,000 female nurses, most of whom were Catholic and Protestant. At the end of 20 years, more than 13,000 of them had died. The women who went to religious services more than once a week, it turned out, were 33 percent less likely to be in that group who died, compared to those who never attended services," The Washington Post reported.
Church attendance appeared to boost health in a variety of ways, helping believers practice health habits.
"Women who started going to services then became more likely to quit smoking and less likely to show signs of depression … even when the researchers controlled for a long list of other variables, from age and exercise habits to income and other non-religious social engagement," the Post reported.

Will the Traditional Christian Belief of Eternal Hell Be Minority View Soon?
Belief in eternal punishment in a literal hell is declining among Christians in America. By contrast, belief in heaven is in great shape.
In a National Geographic article published earlier this month and now making the rounds among Christians, writer Mark Strauss outlines the shifting Christian perspective toward believing that those who don't accept Christ die a spiritual death as well as a mortal one instead of being punished eternally in hell.
Noting a 13 percentage point drop over the past 20 years in Americans who believe in a fiery underworld, the author notes that the stats present "a conundrum that continues to tug at the conscience of some Christians, who find it difficult to reconcile the existence of a just, loving God with a doctrine that dooms billions of people to eternal punishment."
